HOW CHILDREN SHOULD SPEND LEISURE TIME?

All parents would like that their children will grow into healthy, intelligent and creative children. I think believe those are the goal of all of us as parents, but for moving towards it is not as easy as turning the palm of the hand. However nowadays,  It need hard work to teach our children that they will grow as our hope especially. 

There is a theory which says that works which are chosen by the parents to form children’s creativity and to grow self-confidence and ability should be suitable for them. Parents should give freedom for them to choose their hobbies without outside interferences. Another theory says that the role of families in supporting children’s creativity must use the principles of democracy and freedom in every child’s activity. All that will develop children’s ability to work.

Therefore, parents should pay attention to this issue. In their spare time, children are given the opportunity to solve the problems which they face during their work. Every things that can open up their horizons of knowledge in helping them to develop their skills in working time. These methods will affect their imagination or abilities.

Many  people believe that nowadays children using their leisure time is understood as a waste of time because they spend too much time in watching television and playing video games. It is assumed that most young people after coming home from school spend their time most in watching television or playing video games. Watching television or playing video games in an isolated room can cause some bad effects on children mind and moral as well as physical. It is not only that those children will have lack of body fitness, but also lack of social relation with their friends. 

As we see, children sometimes emulate what they watch from television. It is believed that a child, not to be able yet, to differentiate between fiction or real thing. For example, how they would understand that the content of the movie such as Spider-man, Superman or Harry Potter are fictions. There are some cases reported in some places such as, children who jump from high place, using a superman because they think they are superman too. 

In addition watching television or playing video games in an isolated room causes children have fewer friends. They egos are growing more and more. This will affect their view of human relationships because of lack of relationships to their neighbors. They don’t have sympathy too, in case of an accident for example.However, spending time in watching television or playing video games can give some advantages to the children too. They would have broadened knowledge, especially if they watch education program. Generally speaking there are advantages or disadvantages of spending much time in watching television or playing video games. It depends on what programs they watch and how much time they spend watching.

Therefore, parents should pay attention to this issue. In their spare time, children are given the opportunity to solve the problems which they face during their work. Every things that can open up their horizons of knowledge in helping them to develop their skills in working time. These methods will affect their imagination or abilities. It is not doubted that efforts, facilities, training, experience in coloring, outlining, measuring, forming, marking, weighing and others can help to develop of children artistic expression.

Furthermore, another important thing and the most decisive is the rule of life. The character of children is often determined by how they see their parents or environment and how they use their free time. Spending free time is depending on the habits of parents and the environment communities. We should avoid our children from the boredom of studying, but also we should not let them waste their time. I think all parents should devote attention fully to how their children enjoy free time for children, such as sports, arts, science, watching television, playing video games, and other activities that will give benefits for them, for the family and society.
