IDENTIFICATION OF THE “TWENTY FOUR ELDERS” IN REVELATION 4:4 (1)

INTRODUCTION

In the vision of Rev 4, John saw a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. He who sat there was like a jasper and a Sardis stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. (Rev. 4:2-4).[1]  John is given a vision intended to call attention to the sovereignty of God over the history and the unique privilege of Christ to unfold the future. [2]
